The SMART collaboration tools have been developed to tackle those scenarios, but this flexibility can lead it to be very difficult to understand what each one does. So here we are going to look at a few different scenarios, and hope fully you will find one that matches your requirements.

I want a standalone Interactive Whiteboard that lots of different people can use. I don’t always have control over these people, and I definantly don’t want them all logged on to my network. Moreover, I don’t want helpdesk called every time it is used.

This scenario is exactly what the SMART Hub series of products has been developed for. The Hub removes the need for a PC to run the SMART Board, and its software is developed to be intuitive so nearly all users can use the board immediately. This is so important in this scenario, because you cannot afford to be training all the potential users of the solution. Particularly as they can often be under a great deal of pressure in a meeting/presentation environment, and you do not want the technology to become the focus of that frustration. The Hubs are very successful in the following examples:

  • Meeting rooms where visitors will contribute, or there is limited network access
  • Rented or Managed office environments
  • Conference Facilities
  • Hotels
  • Training Centres
  • Public Access or Information
  • Events
  • Feel free to add your own scenarios for us to consider into the comments at the bottom of this article

The SMART Hub products grow from very simple SMART board management with the SE, through the PE which is a software upgrade to the SE that give greater network functionality, and finally to the VE which include multiple inputs for full peripheral and mobile PC integration.

I want groups to be able work on SMART board documents across multiple locations and sessions.
