What is 802.11n?

802.11n is an IEEE Wireless LAN standard now a draft 2.0, which is due to be ratified in 2009. [Too technical? Go to our less technical explanation] The standard has been developed with speed and data throughput in mind, and promises ten-fold increases in data transmission. Certain implementations also promise four times the range of a/b/g WLAN implementations. However, as we will see, this is very dependent on the circumstances.
